WRITTEN BY GRANDAUGHTER KAREN Our Gran Known as “Gran” by many, but only a few had real permission to call her such. There are so many things that I remember, like how she used to play Lego with my brother and I Martin had all the Star Wars figures including the “Millennium Falcon” which she could never pronounce no matter how slowly she tried to say it. She had a Magic cupboard it was full of yummy biscuits and home made buns and rainbow and marble cakes and she would always be eating Smokey Bacon Walkers crisps they were her favourite! That was one thing that Gran was renowned for - eating! For example, one evening we all went out to dinner and she ordered Chicken and mushroom pie after she had finished I said “Gran I thought you hated mushrooms!" she chuckled and said “well I paid for them so I’ll eat them. Anyway, I don’t chew them, I swallow them whole! " My Gran was amazing and loved everyone so much but the one person she had a very big soft spot for was my brother he was her pride and joy. Her precious Martin who she loved so much. One time will stay in my heart forever and that was the day I bought Connor home from the hospital. You see, he was born a little early and very small, and the day they finally let him home I walked though the lounge door with Connor wrapped in a blanket and shouted "do you want to hold your great grandson?" She thought I was joking, I walked over and placed him in her arms and she broke her heart and kissed him gently on his head and said I’m your G.G and the name stuck. The other time was with Oliver. He was born very early and had little chance of survival. Bless my Gran, she said “come hell or high water I will see my second Great grandson!” and she did she arrived at the hospital in a wheel chair ,with Uncle Paul and Auntie Marva and my mum and got a peep through a window. 7 weeks later Oliver came home and she held him in her arms and like history repeating itself kissed him gently on his head and said again” I’m your G.G.” My husband Brett, is a man of very little words, but he had a soft spot for my Gran. She would feed him full of tea and biscuits and was always having little cuddles, he always said she was the Gran that he never had. So from Karen Brett Martin Connor Denis and Oliver God bless you Gran G.G we all loved you in our own little way
